Get Xtreme-Grip™

Our S197 rear street suspension systems include all critical suspension components necessary to substantially increase rear suspension performance in one easy kit.

This kit contains the following:

  1. Rear Torque Arm System
  2. Street Watts Link System
  3. Street Lower Rear Control Arms & Brackets

Torque Arm

The Xtreme-Grip™ Torque Arm is a rear suspension component that delivers unsurpassed corner exit and straight-line rear grip without sacrificing cornering ability. You can also expect a significant decrease in front end dive under braking since the rear axle rotational loads are now applied much closer to the center of gravity. These improvements are accomplished by changing the anti-squat and anti-lift geometry of the rear suspension.

When a Mustang is lowered from the factory ride height the rear suspension geometry is compromised reducing rear grip under acceleration. Relocating the lower control arms pivots on the axle is a step in the right direction, however, more improvement is possible. Our torque arm system allows significantly more anti-squat to be added to your Mustang than with a 3 or 4 link design while still having correct rear axle roll steer.

Watts Link

A watts link is an upgraded design to replace commonly used OEM panhard bar setups on solid rear axle equipped vehicles. Panhard bars are a compromised suspension design because they can’t keep the rear axle centered when the suspension moves up and down. By contrast, watts linkages provide a pivot point, creating a rotation center of the rear of the vehicle.

Four possible pivot location points of the center pivot, which is the rotation center of the rear of the vehicle. Moving it up or down relative to the center of gravity of the vehicle allows the roll stiffness of the suspension to be changed. This enables balancing the front-to-rear grip of the vehicle so that the desired handling can be achieved. The CorteX The Xtreme-Grip™ Watts link mod is an improvement over a panhard bar because it more closely approximates the vertical straight-line motion of the axle assembly allowing the vehicle to behave symmetrically in left and right-hand corners.

Control Arms

The CorteX Racing Xtreme-Grip™ Rear Lower Control Arm System sets the standard for a lightweight adjustable lower control arm.  We include heavy duty stainless steel spacers and high strength aluminum links.  The drop-down brackets are a 1-piece design constructed from cold rolled steel that is powder coated for corrosion resistance and durability.  Most importantly, these arms and brackets have been track tested for thousands of miles of racing conditions to ensure the utmost in reliability.
